i think anything pink/purple, etc might be too much. brown tones might be an interesting change

Blue is a good, neutral, calming color. Brown is depressing for me. Red/pink is too busy. Purple can be good, but only if it's done right. Otherwise, it can also be busy. Green is also nice, IMO, but I don't know if you'd want that. I think you should keep it as it is. I like it.

And definitely NO BLACK!!! ugh that was a nuisance...

you can change your own theme in your user options, all you doing is changing default. I can still have it look the way i want.
