I knew they could do it. Smile

Did anyone else watch? Wow it was an exciting game, right down to the very last seconds. So glad the Giants put the Patsies down a notch.

Honestly I don't understand how the Giants were such underdogs. I saw their end of season match-up. It's why I believed the Patriots wouldn't pull it off again. The Patriots didn't just win the regular season match-up because of their unflappable skills, they also had a damn good amount of luck in getting those last 3 points over the Giants. It wasn't by any measure a blow-out; the Patriots nearly lost, just like many of the games they played in the 2007 season with their "miraculous" Tom Brady "rallying" the team for a win. There was a lot of luck then in winning those games...I think the loss at the Super Bowl proves they had a little too much. It also proves the Giants were a much better team than anyone was crediting them for.

Congrats to the Giants for proving that all of the people who wrote them off were wrong. It will be interesting to watch how Eli Manning does in the future. What a football family the Mannings are, eh?

I'm happy for Burress that he got a ring, too. Hopefully Randle El will get one next year. (Both former beloved Steelers [my team!] in case anyone doesn't know.) Well, maybe Randle El can have one after the Steelers get a start on rings for the other hand... Big Grin
when i switched the channel it was 7-3, Patriots were winning. good to know Giants won, i think my little brother was rooting for them too.

Yeay!
The superball itself was kind of weak though.
They got performer who is not that big of a deal now, you could see field was half empty when they performed.
The comercials were pretty weak too, nothing special.
rooted for patriots, but happy eli got to win.
now both the mannings have won the superbowl
who were the performers during the halftime show?
Tom Petty - we had no idea who he even was till the last song. they made it to the 10 worst superball performer choices and I strongly agreee.
Are you kidding, it was WEAK? That was the best super bowl I can remember having the pleasure to watch. Especially to watch the Giants come out on top.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers was singing. I like Tom Petty, as do a lot of Americans. They might not be as big as Red Hot Chili Peppers or U2, but it was great to not see some cheesy pop sensation performing. It was classic rock music, fitting to the teams I think.

was michael jakson singing? how were randy and paula?
who cares about the half-time show?
i'll say this thou, it was one of the most anticipated games
I am not talking about the game itself, I am not a huge football fan , so I can not possibly have a disscusion about the gaming. However, as for halftime show , we watched the game with 20 other people and no one knew who he was till he started singing last song. While he might be a good performed I think they have decided to be cheap this year and that was the reason he got hired. Lets be honest, as much as you say it was better then another pop singer, most of viewers would rather watch some new talanted and familiar face.
As I said when Prince sang you could see there was no place to stand on the field, this time they have tried to make it look the same , but when they did a bird view shoot you could see there were maybe 20 rows of people and the rest of the field was empty.
Also my opinion is shared by many on forums and articles all over the internet. They have went the safe way, as they have been ever since the 2004 mishap.

Not any self-respecting football fan I've ever known. Especially not me. Mainstream music nowadays mostly sucks to me. It's damn near all repetitive forgettable garbage. The music I like, doesn't usually play on the radio for enough people to recognize, unless it's classic rock or with a few exceptions.

They've been saying all week who the preformer was....ever since that stuff with janet and justin they cslm stuff down

i agree 100 percent
So if they did get Alicia Keys, as they were planing to do you would be highly dissapointed? Honestly.
Maybe he is a good performer. but to have him a year after Prince, do you really honestly believe that he had the same mass apeal?
How come are you not complaining about the girl who sang the national anthem. I personally loved her voice and thought she did a great job, but they got her because she was a popular familiar face who had a mass comercial appeal don't you think? If you are saying no self-respecting football fan listens to mainstream music, why get her? She is as main stream as they come.
I think whoever organized the superball advertisements and performence this year sucked. That is my personal opinion feel free to dissagree.

That's not what I meant. We heard the name, but since we did no research, when they came out none of us recongnized him. He is just not 2008 mainstream artist. He had one song we knew, because we all heard it on the radio by the way, that's about it.
Now i will toy with the idea, that maybe if you were born here you would know who he is, and it might be the fact that most of people we watched it with were imigrants. However, I did some research, and there are alot of people on forums that agree with my opinion of poor performer's choice.

Actually, yes I would be. I'm not a big fan of her music, although I do think she's talanted.

I didn't turn it on in time to see the National Anthem. Aside from the fact that the National Anthem is not a pop song or other mainstream music played on HOT95 every 10 minutes. I used to sing the National Anthem before all of the games in high school. As long as it's not Roseanne, I'm sure that she was a fine choice. Her own music, whoever she was as I did not see it, I cannot vouch for.

A lot of the commercials were funny. However, I don't think they have been as funny for some time, even before the "2004 fiasco".

What forums? And who would really be talking about the half-time show after the Giants beat the heavily favored Patriots?

Also probably not knowledgeable football fans, and if they are it's probably mentioned in a side-note.

I've been watching the super bowl all my life. It was a good show entirely.
It was the girl who won American Idol.
As I said , i think he was a pretty decent performer, i just feel that previous years they were targeting a completely diffrent audience, and it had a much better mass apeal.
I think I can say that I agree as far as the game went, and I definately was pulling for Giants, it was a good game.
But people still do watch halftime show and comercials, lets be honest.

Rita...just FYI I think that I've BEEN honest.

My opinion is that mainstream music sucks. American Idol is trash. I have not once ever remotely liked a single performer to come out of AI. They all feel like pretenders to me, down to the very last crooned note. Best of luck to them.

Did I say that I don't watch the half-time show? I obviously do, and I enjoyed it. I'm sure that many people I know back home, even here, also enjoyed it. It was nice to not have some new sensation that not everyone would enjoy. Not just impressionable young kids/adults watch the Super Bowl. Additionally I don't think the show was the best but it was certainly a well-known performer I like and I wouldn't rank it among the worst.

The commercials will always be hit and miss. Companies try for wacky and memorable but I think the past can say clear enough that they don't always pull it off. How many commercials from the SB do you remember over the last few years, not counting last night? My bet would be not many if perhaps one very clearly at all.
